After a BSc in Agronomic Engineering in Portugal, I came to the Netherlands to study my MSc in Environmental Sciences – Environmental Policy Track at Wageningen University and Research. Disappointed with the Eurocentric, modern, mainstream scientific approach leading the interface between (scientific) knowledge and policy/politics, I derived my focus towards environmental anthropology, political ecology/ontology with my MSc thesis entitled Zapatistas: new environmental subjects?.
Methodologically, I have found storytelling/narrative enactment -based (auto-)ethnography to be key for my research focus. Presently, I continue to engage with indigenous epistemologies and ontologies in relation to nature through a inter/transdisciplinary approach in the Mexican context, both through my research and activism.
