My research navigates an emerging intersection between modern water management and concepts of plural ontologies, realities, or worlds. Modern water management has developed a suite of tools and approaches to predicting and controlling water quality and flow. Yet these are showing themselves to be not only insufficient, but often disruptive to diverse relationships to rivers as homes, as communities, and as living entities - relationships of care and attention that suggest much-needed innovations for state-led water governance.
