Ethnoontologies. Relating metaphysics and practice of knowledge diversity
Researchers in the life sciences increasingly recognize the importance of local and Indigenous knowledge for addressing issues such as biodiversity conservation, agricultural sustainability, and public health. However, the integration of local and academic knowledge often raises fundamental questions about conflicting metaphysical and ontological perspectives in the negotiation of social-environmental interventions and futures. The VIDI project explores relations between academic and non-academic ontologies in transdisciplinary research in Brazil and Mexico and addresses their implications for collaborative and inclusive approaches in the global life sciences.
